About Us:

White Tiger Wushu Center (Pai Hu Wu Shu Zhongxin) is a Wushu group that has been offering Wushu training programs and performing Wushu exhibitions since 2000.  It is the first "Filipino Wushu group" in Cavite-Region 4a.  Our group started from a humble beginning.  From grassroots level, our students were able to develop into champions, not only in Wushu but also in life.

We are devoted to the practice and promotion of Wushu as a sport and martial arts.  With regards to our classes, we incorporate the Traditional Wushu training with the Modern Wushu forms in our practice.  As we believe in the philosophy, ethics and applications of the Traditional Wushu would greatly benefit the training of Modern Wushu practitioners.

Moreover, we try to impose to our members the true essence of learning Wushu.  It is not just about fighting but to apply the morality and ethics of Wushu in their life.  They learn the art not to intentionally harm others or start a fight; but to defend oneself or their love ones.  We emphasize that Wushu is not only a system of skills and theories but also mirrors morality in principles, conduct and manners.

Aside from Wushu classes, our group also engages in other activities like Wushu Exhibitions, Wushu Competitions and Chinese Lion and Dragon dance.  We also give free Wushu scholarship to out-of-school youths and members who can't afford the enrollment of our Wushu training program.

Lastly, White Tiger Wushu Center is like a family.  Our Sifu/coach acts as a parent while seniors act as elder brothers or sisters to other members.  Aside from giving advices and teaching good values to members, we try to impose a healthy lifestyle to them.  We advise them to avoid vices such as smoking and drinking, because people with these vices might not last our rigid training.

Our Mission:

  • To teach and promote Wushu as a sport, fitness and martial arts.
  • To promote the development of those physical qualities and moral values through Wushu training and ethics.
  • To discover, train and develop effective Wushu athletes for local competitions through quality training program.
  • To give a productive activity for the youth, minimizing the chance if indulging themselves to vices.

Our Vision:

  • To contribute in the success of Wushu in achieving an international recognition and respect as a competitive sport and a traditional art for all countries, not just in China.
  • To produce highly skilled future national Wushu athletes from Region 4A.
  • To impart the Wushu ethics from Traditional Wushu to Modern Wushu athletes and be able to produce champions in life as well as in the art.

Our Logo:

Founder/Head coach profile and History of our group:

  • Sifu Rey Benedict A. Suyo

"Our sifu Rey is humble, respectful, kind but strict.  He's very passionate in his teaching. He doesn't brag his achievements nor make up stories just to build up his status.  He respects other type of martial arts because he believe that every martial arts has its pros.  Even if you're a beginner, you can easily approach him and ask. He's strict in class because he wanted his students to improve in Wushu."

Sifu/Coach REY BENEDICT A. SUYO is White Tiger Wushu Center founder & head coach.  He started Wushu in 1996 after learning Black Kimono from Master Ramon Balatico.  Before becoming a modern Wushu athlete, he was a Traditional Wushu student.  His traditional Wushu grandmasters & teachers (Sifu) are: grandmaster Leo Ti, grandmaster Ramon Sy and grandmaster Benito Ku.  His traditional Wushu teacher introduced him to Modern Wushu through Wushu Federation Philippines (WFP) old batch of Chinese coaches.  He practiced his Modern Wushu at the old Wushu Federation Philippines building in Juan Luna st. Binondo, Manila.  After a while, he was included in the National Training Pool and became an athlete of Wushu Federation Philippines and Philippine Sports Commission together with other Wushu champions like Willy Wang and Arvin Ting.  He also joined different Modern Wushu competitions.

Nevertheless, being a student is not enough for him.  He also wanted to share his knowledge in Traditional and Modern Wushu to others, especially the youth.  As a previous officer and assistant coach of Pao Hong Shaolin Wushu, he taught the art of Wushu in University of the Philippines-Diliman, together with other officers.  Since he's studying at PATTS College of Aeronautics, he founded a Wushu organization within the school.  It has a large number of members. On January 2000, PATTS Wushu was invited by Pao Hong Shaolin Wushu to perform Chinese Lion and Dragon dance parade for Sinulog in Cebu; 80% of the performers were from Rey Suyo's PATTS Wushu group. After Chinese New Year 2000, he left Pao Hong Shaolin Wushu because of problems within the officers.

At that time, Wushu was unknown to the Caviteños.  There are no existing Wushu groups in Cavite. So He decided to create his own school in Mabuhay Homes 2000, Dasmariñas city Cavite, where he lives.  Established in April 18, 2000; White Tiger Martial Arts Society became the "First Filipino Wushu group in Cavite - Region 4A".  It was created to cater Filipinos who wanted to learn Wushu especially the out-of-school youth.  The group has a noble mission: "To give a productive activity for the youth, minimizing the chance of indulging themselves to vices".

When he transferred to AMA Computer College-Las Piñas, he also created a Wushu student organization, AMA Wushu Club.  Only few students joined the club since AMA Computer College-Las Piñas campus has just started at that time.  But the organization was able to conduct its own activities like Wushu performance, mini Wushu exhibit, Chinese Lion dance and Wushu film screening.  After a year and a half, Mr. Rey Suyo left the school to pursue his business.  The AMA Wushu Club was disbanded since then.

After a while, he led his new group to join the National Wushu Championship for the first time in 2003.  Since then, the group became active in local Wushu competitions.  White Tiger Martial Arts Society (previous name of White Tiger Wushu Center) is considered as one of Wushu Federation Philippines affiliates.  It also represents Cavite: Region IV-A in several Wushu competitions locally.

Also in the same year, the group was able to hold their First White Tiger Cavite Wushu Championship at Robinsons Place Imus, Cavite.  The second White Tiger Cavite inter-branch Wushu competition was held in 2006, same venue.

Eventually, the group changed its name to White Tiger Wushu Zhan to easily distinguish the type of martial arts used.  When it became a large group, the name was changed to White Tiger Wushu Zhongxin, from which "Zhongxin" means "center".  But a lot of Filipinos were confused in the Chinese term, "Zhongxin".  To avoid this problem, it was decided to use its English term, which is "Center".  Therefore, it became "White Tiger Wushu Center".

To become more efficient in his teachings and be considered as a legitimate coach, he had undergone "Wushu coach for Taolu and Wushu judge for Sanda" seminars hosted by Wushu Federation Philippines.  Last October 2014, he had attended and passed the Wushu Sanda judge/referee license at the Wushu Coaches and Judges Seminar held at Rizal Memorial Basketball stadium.

Aside from Wushu, White Tiger Wushu Center was given an award for "Outstanding performance" and has given pride and honor to the people of Cavite, given by Mayor Strike Revilla and Congresswoman Lani Mercado Revilla for winning at the "First Metro Manila Lion Dance competition", held at SM Mall of Asia.

Through the years, the group has offered several Wushu training programs on different schools, gyms, mall and private Wushu classes within Cavite and nearby areas.  Last September 2014, White Tiger Wushu Center was invited to conduct a "Wushu Taolu & Sanda seminar week" for DepEd teachers in Vigan, Ilocos Sur.

Throughout his Wushu career, he realized that he enjoyed teaching.  His resolve is to finish his course, Bachelor in Technical Teacher Education then take up a few units so that he could become a PEHM/MAPEH teacher.  He'll teach Wushu on his PE classes someday.  This will further promote Wushu among Caviteños.
